  7. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging and inclusive drama instruction, promote creative expression, and support student growth through performance opportunities. This position includes teaching grades 6–12, directing school productions, and collaborating across divisions and departments to foster a dynamic and inclusive performing arts culture.
  8. MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
  9. Instruction & Curriculum:
  10. - Plan and deliver age-appropriate drama lessons for students in grades 6–12.
  11. - Develop and implement a curriculum that includes acting techniques, improvisation, script analysis, stagecraft, and theater history.
  12. - Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  13. - Incorporate cross-curricular learning, where appropriate.
  14. Theater Productions:
  15. - Direct and manage at least two major Upper School productions per year (e.g., fall play, spring musical), and support additional Middle School showcases or class performances as appropriate.
  16. - Oversee auditions, rehearsals, technical production, and final performances.
  17. - Collaborate with music and visual arts departments on interdisciplinary projects.
  18. Classroom Environment:
  19. - Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that fosters respect and creativity.
  20. - Promote student collaboration and ensemble-building skills.
  21. - Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies.
  22. Professional Responsibilities:
  23. - Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  24. - Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and faculty meetings.
  25. - Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  26. - Contribute to department planning and curriculum development.
  27. Additional Duties:
  28. - Contribute to the planning and execution of community arts events (e.g., school arts festivals, showcases, or assemblies).
  29. - Advise or supervise extracurricular activities related to drama or performing arts.
  30. - Mentor students interested in pursuing theater outside the classroom.
  31. - Engage in ongoing professional development and stay current with best practices in drama education.
  32. Certifications and Education:
  33. Required:
  34. - Bachelor’s degree in Theater, Drama Education, Performing Arts, or a related field.
  35. - Teaching certification/licensure (or eligibility) for middle and/or high school levels.
  36. Desired:
  37. - Master’s degree in Theater Education or a related field.
  38. - IB DP or concept-based curriculum experience.
  39. - Training or experience in SEL-based or ensemble-building theater practices.
  40. - Experience with stage management, technical theater, and musical theater.
  41. - Familiarity with American and international drama traditions.
  42. - Skills in lighting, sound, set design, or costuming are a plus.
  43. OTHERS:
  44. - Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in a school setting.
  45. - Proven experience directing student theatrical productions.
  46. - High English proficiency
  47. - Passion for the performing arts and education.
  48. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  49. - Organized, flexible, and able to multitask.
  50. - Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and on stage.
